On Tuesday evening November 15, 2022 during the Middletown Lions Club’s monthly dinner meeting at the Athenian Diner in Middletown a new member was inducted.

This was a special meeting because Tom McVerry would be inducted as the Middletown Lions newest member.

Zone Chairperson (ZC), Howard Geltman asked Tom and his sponsor club First Vice President, Marty Knight to come forward.

ZC Howard explained to Tom about the beginnings of Lions Clubs International and its founding in 1917. He also gave some history about the Middletown Lions Club and the service projects it has done throughout its 93 years of service to the Middletown community.

After Tom received his Lions Oath, his proud sponsor Marty Knight pinned him with his new Lions pin.

Officer Installation 2022-2023

On Tuesday evening, June 21, 2022 at their monthly dinner meeting the Middletown Lions Club held its Installation of Officers for the 2022-2023 lions year.

What made thisinstallation different was that it was a “candy bar” officer installation. The idea came from then District 23A Governor Elect, Melissa Smith who was talking about this while a number of us were sitting together at Immediate Past District 23C Governor, Michele Wyatt's Testimonial.

Lisa Klein, President of the Cromwell Lions Club conducted the Installation of Officers Ceremony for Middletown.

Directors (all Middletown members who are not officers): Helen Shramek, Audrey Klein, Richard Pelletier, and Michelle Beyer were presented with a Hershey's Classic Milk Chocolate Bar with their commitment to support the club.

Our Membership Chairperson, Catie Yarlott, was installed and presented with a Hershey's Skor Butter Toffee Bar as a reminder to keep track of club membership.

Our Lion Tamer, Lee Heckstall was installed and presented with a Butterfingers Bar as a reminder to “hold onto” all club meeting property.

Our Tail Twister, Tammy Heckstall was installed and presented with a Snickers Bar to remind her to perform her duties of Tail Twisting and help inject some humor and fun into club meetings.

Our Treasurer, Catie Yarlott was installed and presented with a 100 Grand Bar as a reminder to keep track of club finances.

Our Secretary, James Beyer was installed and presented with a Hershey's Mounds Bar resembling the “mounds” of paperwork he’s responsible for as Secretary.

Our Second Vice President, Ada Spillane, was installed and presented with a Nestle Crunch Bar resembling the potential, last minute duties the Vice President may have to fill in for.

Our First Vice President/LCIF Coordinator/Club Administrator, Marty Knight was installed and presented with a box of Whoppers Malted Milk Balls to resemble the “whopping” duties he’s responsible for.

Our President, Ellie Paules, was installed and presented with a bottle of Power Ade and bag of Hershey's Hugs in resemblance of all her duties as President needing to stay hydrated and to comfort members after laying down the law.

The photo above shows club members and guests (back row): James Beyer, Lisa Klein. Ada Spillane, Marty Knight, Richard Pelletier, Helen Shramek, Tammy Heckstall, Audrey Klein and Catie Yarlott. President, Ellie Paules is sitting in front.

We wish to thank Cromwell Lions President, Lisa Klein for conducting such a fun-filled Installation Ceremony.
